- The WHO is calling for a moratorium on COVID-19 vaccine boosters through the end of September. Some wealthy nations have begun booster campaigns while low-income countries are still largely unvaccinated. Israel, Germany, and France already have third shots rolling out or coming soon for certain groups.
- Obama was due to have hundreds of people for an outdoor birthday party at Martha's Vineyard. Citing Delta variant concerns, a spokeswoman said it will now be "only family and close friends." She described it as the Obamas deciding to "significantly scale back the event."

- Amazon introduced palm-scanning payment tech in its cashierless stores in 2020. Amazon is now offering shoppers $10 credit if they scan their palm at these stores, per TechCrunch. The Amazon One palm tech can be found in Amazon Go, Amazon Books, and Amazon Pop-up stores.
