Amazon will pay up to $1,000 to people injured by third-party products sold on its platform, it said. Third-party Amazon sellers won't have to chip in if they have valid insurance, Amazon said. Amazon said the new policy, which starts September 1, does not mean it accepts liability.

Alibaba has suspended several staff following an employee's allegations that she was sexually assaulted by her boss and a client. Police in the city of Jinan said they were investigating the incident. "Alibaba Group has a zero-tolerance policy against sexual misconduct" a spokesperson said in a statement.

Snickers posted an advert for their chocolate bar, which was slammed for being homophobic.  Critics included Spain's Minister for Equality and the Spanish LGBT State Federation.  The advert was pulled by the company, and they apologized for any misunderstanding.
