COPENHAGEN, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Renewables firm Orsted (ORSTED.CO) raised its full-year outlook on Thursday thanks to high power prices, after a disappointing showing in its offshore wind business led to weaker-than-expected second quarter core earnings which knocked its shares.

Europe's power crunch, largely the result of the conflict in Ukraine, means the world's largest developer of offshore wind farms now expects full-year earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), excluding new partnerships, of 20-22 billion Danish crowns.

This was up from a previous range of 19-21 billion crowns.

    zerohedge Thu 11 Aug 2022 10:58

Anthony Fauci has few friends, even in Seattle.  Keep in mind, Seattle is one of the major strongholds of leftist covid hysteria in the US and ground zero for lockdowns in Washington State which lasted well over a year.  Most of the country dropped mandates and lockdowns after a few months when it became clear that covid was not a threat to 99.7% or more of the population according to dozens of peer reviewed studies.  But Washington State kept them going, primarily because of the fear mongering of government officials like Fauci.  The fact that Fauci was booed by large crowds in the middle of Seattle is surprising.  However, this shows that resistance to the mandates and anger over the disinformation surrounding covid is far more widespread than the media would have us believe.

Fauci agreed to throw the first pitch at the Seattle Mariners T-Mobile Stadium this week, probably because he thought he would be safe within the confines of the...

  • Rate hikes are (still) coming, gasoline prices fell, but rents are soaring. Here's what markets are watching Link
    Bloomberg Thu 11 Aug 2022 10:53

Rate hikes are (still) coming, gasoline prices fell, but rents are soaring.

Federal Reserve officials responded to softening inflation data by saying it doesn’t change the US central bank’s path toward even higher interest rates this year and next. Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, who prior to the pandemic was the central bank’s most dovish policy maker, said Wednesday that he wants the Fed’s benchmark interest rate at 3.9% by the end of this year and at 4.4% by the end of 2023. Yesterday's stock rally was fueled by bets that the Fed may turn less hawkish. Yet market observers cautioned that policy makers will want to see months more of evidence that price gains are slowing before they change their view. Economists are divided on whether slower CPI growth means the Fed could ease its aggressive rate-hiking program.
