When I grow up, I want to be…
My first memory of taking a tangible step toward my career was on the last day of kindergarten. In front of an audience of classmates and families, I participated in our “moving up” ceremony. Here, we were asked to introduce ourselves and share what we wanted to be when we grew up. There were all sorts of responses, including fairies, princesses, skateboarders, football players, doctors, and a lawyer (mine).
As a kindergartner, I actually didn’t know what a lawyer did. However, I was inspired by my mother’s work as an attorney, who utilized her legal knowledge to help family and friends. Seeing the joy on people’s faces when they discovered that my mother was able to help them made me realize that I wanted to have the same positive impact on society.
AN UNEXPECTED DISCOVERY
Ever since my declaration at the “moving up” ceremony, I have been working toward achieving a successful legal career. Upon graduating from...
- Gold has had a stellar bull run over the past three months. Our Weekly quant has been in Buy Mode since mid June and there it remains.
The solid vertical Green line on the Weekly Quant indicates the calendar date of the last weekly buy signal. If the White line on the weekly quant moves above the upper Blue line of the time manifold it will, in our opinion will indicate additional upside pressure will likely be making itself known in the coming weeks.
The Daily quant has been in sell mode for eleven days while digesting the last move up. When and if the White line and Black histogram move above the 0.00 line we will be in Buy mode.

Which international business schools have fared the best in the main global rankings over the past decade? To answer that, we decided to crunch the rankings numbers of the Poets&Quants International MBA ranking over the past ten years. We did the same for domestic programs earlier this week.
Like Harvard and Stanford in the ranking of the domestic programs, two schools — INSEAD and London Business School — stood above the rest over that timeframe. INSEAD has finished first in the Poets&Quants composite ranking in six of the 10 years as well as in each of the past five years. The school, with campuses in France, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, never finished lower than second place. London Business School claimed first place the four years that INSEAD wasn’t first and has never placed lower than third. So, over the past decade, either INSEAD or London Business School has received top honors, a record of consistency that cements their positions at the...

The unfortunate reality of the U.S. stock market is it is extremely complicated.
There are exchanges. Broker-dealers. Dark pools. High-frequency traders. Alternative trading systems. And all of these bodies are interacting with each other millions of times daily for fractions of a second at a time.
This fragmented nature, according to market structure experts, is partly the result of Regulation National Market System, also known as Reg NMS.
Deutsche Bank starts off coverage on Jack in the Box (NASDAQ:JACK) with a Buy rating.
The firm sees strength in the management team and is sees the fast-food chain as a beneficiary of the coronavirus crisis.
"Led by a new CEO, and potentially aided by COVID-related industry opportunities, the resumption of consistent domestic net unit growth represents a potential bull case scenario, but we don't think investors need to underwrite this at this time to participate in upside between now and when investors might have more clarity on the development front."

Bank of America is all-in on downtrodden value investing, but the Wall Street firm is warning investors about value traps.
"We prefer Value to Growth for a multitude of reasons, spanning macro and micro, but watch out for traps," Bank of America equity and quant strategist Savita Subramanian told clients on Tuesday.
While high flying growth stocks have led the major averages from the depths of the coronavirus recession, Bank of America said value investing is still alive. The valuation gap between expensive and cheap stocks is its widest in years, setting the stage for undervalued companies to catch up to the technology darlings, the firm believes.
"Traditional cyclical industries like Household Durables, Autos, Metals & Mining, Construction Materials, and Semiconductors screen as Good Value opportunities, backed by improving fundamentals as well as price momentum," said Subramanian.

Months after Poets&Quants launched in August of 2010, we produced the site’s first MBA ranking — a composite of the five major rankings from the Financial Times, The Economist, Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, and U.S. News and World Report. Since then, we’ve published the ranking every single year for a total of 10 rankings.
Say what you will about the volatility of MBA rankings that often lead to nonsensical results that inevitably pop up on any list in a single year. Over a ten-year period, however, across the world’s five most influential rankings, you get to a greater truth about where schools stand and how enduring brand value can be in the annual ranking sweepstakes. Consistency and consensus matters, after all.
While things have certainly changed since 2010, a lot of the ranking — especially towards the top — has remained the same. Harvard Business School, Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, the Chicago Booth School of Business, and the...

According to CEO of Nigerian-based cryptocurrency exchange Yellow Card, cryptocurrency is quickly gaining momentum across Africa, particularly in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya. He suggested in an interview that he thinks that Bitcoin will continue to expand, moving across Africa:
“At this point, it’s just a matter of time before it continues to expand outward to the rest of the continent.“
(Bloomberg) -- Wall Street should be put on notice: the government has new tools to look over traders’ shoulders in close to real time to spot misconduct.
The main U.S. derivatives regulator, after years of relying on exchanges and whistle-blowers for tips on financial fraud, is beginning to reap benefits from an effort to bolster surveillance to help root out rogue trading.
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is touting the first fruits of a three-year project to enhance its ability to more closely watch how traders are buying and selling in the $558.5 trillion global derivatives market, making it easier to move quickly against illegal tactics. New tools that help the regulator rapidly analyze trades and detect suspicious transactions were credited with helping bring an enforcement case against Bank of Nova Scotia this week.
“Now we can develop a case without traders knowing we’re looking at them,” CFTC Enforcement Director James...

The GBP/NZD bullish momentum is strong. More than 20 candlesticks have not retraced back to the 21 ema zone (see green diamonds). This means that the impulse is probably a wave 3 (orange). And that any pullback is likely a wave 4. This is only invalidated if price retraces below the top of wave 1 (red x). In fact, multiple waves 3-4-5 could be remaining.
The next target is aiming at the 2.03-2.0325 zone. A bearish pullback could take place as the new high creates divergence. But a pullback is expected to retest the support zone (purple box) and use it for another bullish bounce and uptrend continuation.
When trading, many of the market’s traders have often observed a low correlation between Bitcoin and other global financial assets. That is interesting, but not unexpected since as a prospective store of value candidate it is supposed to be uncorrelated to a great degree. Here, it must be noted, however, that the correlation tends to change depending on market sentiment, demand, and market dominance. While the shift may not be robust, it has a direct effect on spot market prices, volume, and Open Interest in the Bitcoin derivatives market.
Since most markets currently available for trading are correlated in some way, Bitcoin is often perceived to be a relatively uncorrelated asset, one providing traders with the opportunity to hedge, diversify their portfolios, and treat it as an alternative investment. However, this changed over the past 90 days.
Bitcoin’s correlation with Gold crossed 64.3% on 27 July 2020, following which, it hit a...
Covid-19 has been accompanied by a high level of lobbying activity as businesses and interest groups seek to influence government policy. Anne Rasmussen writes that while the relative access of different group types to COVID-19 meetings looks similar to other topics, the greater use of digital lobbying, could affect potential biases in the representation of different types of interest group.
It’s clear that globally, the COVID-19 crisis has consolidated power within governments, leaving opposition parties in a bind. Governments have acted to ringfence decision making on lockdowns, special emergency measures, recovery funding and recently, plans for reopening societies. Although the opposition has gradually become more involved in many countries, criticism of the lack of democratic oversight remains, and (with hindsight) the necessity and severity of some of the measures adopted has been questioned.
However, COVID-19 has not only affected relationships between...
