  • Problems in Northern Ireland with vaccine delivery and other supply chain issues highlight the inadequacies of the #Brexit agreement. Seems unlikely to be sustainable over the long-term. So what happens next? A united Ireland perhaps.

  • Quick verdict on pandemic response - UK vs other EU countries. Germany, Scandinavia, etc have done better on controlling the virus. Otherwise, UK on a par with Fra,Spa, Ita, etc. UK has been good at protecting jobs and delivering vaccine - better than EU,

  • The Spanish Flu (1918-2020) - which was the most recent global pandemic - lasted 2 years. We may cut 6 months or so off the duration of the #Covid pandemic with vaccines, but I expect it to run until the autumn before it blows itself out.

  • Incredible how many vaccines are coming forward now. Even if their effectiveness varies, it will help protect us into the future.

  • Can @ONS clarify UK labour market situation. LFS data shows a 550k drop in employment, whereas workforce jobs data shows a fall of nearly 1m. Payrolls down by over 800k but that excludes self-emp - down by around 500k. That means total employment down 1.3m. Which source is right?
