- Stephanie Link, chief investment strategist and portfolio manager at Hightower, joined "Squawk Box" on Wednesday to discuss where she sees the most opportunity in the markets as the Fed tries to figure out if inflation is here to stay.
The Federal Reserve will soon begin selling off the corporate bonds and exchange-traded funds it amassed last year through an emergency-lending vehicle set up to contain the Covid-19 pandemic’s economic fallout.
The vehicle, known as the Secondary Market Corporate Credit Facility, or SMCCF, held $5.21 billion of bonds from companies including Whirlpool Corp. , Walmart Inc. and Visa Inc. as of April 30. In addition, it held $8.56 billion of exchange-traded funds that hold corporate debt, such as the Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF.
A Fed official said the sales should be completed by the end of this year. Net proceeds will be remitted to the Treasury Department.
The Fed’s corporate-debt holdings are distinct from its $7.3 trillion balance sheet of Treasury securities and agency mortgage-backed securities. The central bank is continuing to purchase those types of assets to the tune of at least $120 billion a month as part of its monetary-policy...
TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday that he's unsure how much quarterback Tom Brady will do in next week's mandatory minicamp because of his recovery from offseason knee surgery.
Brady has been throwing in private workouts with teammates instead of attending OTAs, but Arians said he might err on the side of caution.
"I don't know how much I'll let him do ... with guys chasing him around," Arians said. "We'll see. We'll see what the doctors say. He may be doing a lot of coaching."
Arians was not present last week when Brady took him up on his offer to throw to teammates at the team facility outside of OTAs on Friday, with no coaches present. That was after Brady and teammates practiced last Monday at the Yankees' practice facility in Tampa. Arians wanted Brady and his teammates at the team facility to ensure they would be protected should a player suffer an injury.
U.S. crude futures climbed to the highest in more than two-and-a-half years after the OPEC+ alliance forecast a tightening global market, while international efforts to revive a nuclear deal with Iran were yet to reach a breakthrough.
The global economic outlook is improving as vaccine rollouts allow businesses to resume operations and as the United States pumps trillions of dollars into the world's largest economy, the OECD said on Monday, nudging its forecasts higher.
The global economy is set to grow 5.8% this year and 4.4% next year, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said, raising its estimates from 5.6% and 4.0% respectively in its last forecasts released in March.
The company has an attractive market—light-duty pickup trucks which are big sellers in the U.S. Plus, Lordstown’s first product, the Endurance truck, has been well-received by fleet customers. (About half of light-duty trucks sold in the U.S. go to businesses.)
That’s the good news. Pickup truck competition is coming, though. Ford Motor (F), for instance, just made waves unveiling its all-electric F-150—which is due out just months after the Endurance goes on sale in late 2021. And the F-150 is priced below the Endurance.
In addition to growing competition, Lordstown also has run into production delays and pushed out its delivery guidance when the company reported first-quarter numbers earlier this week.
The new rating isn’t doing much to the stock in Friday trading. Shares are down a little, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average are both up less than 0.5%. Most of the pain for investors has already happened. Lordstown stock is...
The price of everything that goes into a vehicle is going up. Raw materials — from the steel used for bodies, gear parts and frames to the plastic that winds up in bumpers and doors trims — account for a big portion of manufacturing costs. These are only growing. Add to that labor, logistics, the pressure to invest in new technologies and creeping inflation, and carmakers are seeing a very different landscape from the relatively profit-friendly market they have enjoyed over the past few months.
