On average, nearly 500 jobseekers a day across Great Britain have started on the government’s £238 million JETS – Job Entry Targeted Support – scheme over the last seven months.
And just under 13,000 have already returned to work after securing new roles through JETS.
With opportunities opening up as the country proceeds carefully along the roadmap to Covid-recovery, it means the Department for Work and Pensions is well on the way to hitting its target of helping 250,000 by September.

More of the Government’s largest new infrastructure projects must leave nature and biodiversity in an overall better state than before development, it was confirmed today (Monday 14 June), as the Government commits to delivering a ‘nature positive future’.
- Up to 48 days per annum covering up to two full days a month on departmental work and an additional 2 days a month meeting the Cabinet office requirements. This includes up to 4 Treasury Board, 6 Treasury Board Sub-Committee meetings and as the Audit and Risk Committee chair, 6 Audit and Risk Committee meetings. The appointment will be for an initial 3-year period with the potential for a further 3 year term.
Sector-based work academy programme (SWAPs) is an opportunity to learn new skills and get experience of working in a particular industry, for example care, construction or warehouse work.
The programme is designed to help jobseekers, who are claiming either Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), to build confidence, improve job prospects and enhance CVs.
SWAPs last up to six weeks, and consist of three parts:

The live events sector is set to get a boost with a world-leading government-backed insurance scheme worth over £750 million, which will help them plan events with confidence through to next year, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced today (5 August).
