Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), the premier global management institution, has partnered with Bank of America to launch a Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT). The Centre aspires to become a vibrant knowledge hub for academia, policymaking and the private sector by facilitating cutting-edge research on digital transformation and innovation.

Bank of America today announced it has recorded the most patents granted in the first half of any year in the company’s history. The U.S. Patent Office (USPTO) granted the bank 227 patents during the first half of 2021, a 23% increase over last year, covering a range of solutions for clients including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), information security, data analytics, mobile banking and payments.

The bank also applied for 403 patents, despite 85% of its workforce continuing to work from home during the pandemic. Bank of America ranks 108th on the IPO Top 300 list of U.S. granted patents, its highest ranking ever.

Bank of America today announced that it is providing $1.35 million in grants to support mental health initiatives for young people of color. Funding will be distributed to three national organizations, One Mind, RADical Hope and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), to expand mental health resources for communities of color.

With home buying increasingly competitive and the nation’s housing inventory aging, two-thirds of younger homeowners surveyed plan to renovate this year, according to Bank of America’s 2021 Homebuyer Insights Report: Home Improvement and Equity Spotlight. Increasingly, they have the ability to do so, with real home equity reaching a new peak of $20.2 trillion in the second quarter of 20201, meaning more homeowners can use cash from their home equity to achieve their goals.

According to a survey of 2,000 adults who currently own a home or plan to in the future, many are eager to refresh their living space. This is particularly true for younger generations and Gen X.  Nearly two-thirds (65%) of younger homeowners (ages 18 to 43) and 60% of Gen X homeowners (ages 44 to 56) are likely to renovate this year, compared to 22% of older homeowners (ages 57 to 75).
